Kehilath Israel Synagogue and Campus

A  TRADITION  OF  NEW  BEGINNINGS

Kehilath Israel Synagogue and Campus offers a full schedule of daily minyanim (Rose Morgan Chapel) and Shabbat and holiday services (Rabbi Solomon Sanctuary), life-cycle celebrations, as well as educational, social, cultural and recreational programs. Our congregational family encompasses tremendous variety.

We are both 'many communities', and a 'community of one'.

Our building and campus with its emphasis on 'sanctity and spirituality' provides a remarkable 'sacred place'-MaKom-for praying, learning, connecting, healing and meditation. Kehilath Israel Synagogue and Campus is a magnet, drawing in those souls seeking closer connection to their Jewish heritage.

The fabric of K.I. synagogue life is harmonious and intimate. Many functions within the congregation are handled informally. As volunteers and leaders, people take on projects and special events as the need arises and as they are so moved.

In addition to our traditional services, there are also special services for women, community services, holiday learner's services, healing services and services for children and youth.

As a traditional synagogue, we set a halachik standard of Jewish practice and provide opportunities for all to learn, letting individuals within our community find his/her own equilibrium.

Our goal is to offer access, opening vistas of Jewish learning and Jewish practice.

Adult education takes many forms, including a regular Talmud study group with Rabbi Herbert Mandl, as well as lectures and seminars. There are also informal opportunities for those who have had minimal Jewish education to gain a foundation and to grow and develop. Classes and group activities are offered throughout the year on a variety of topics.

Our Hebrew School and Sunday Family Programs offer a warm and supportive setting combined with a creative curriculum at every grade level. Special Sunday Fun Day activities and NCSY and Young Judaea youth groups add joy and celebration for our teenagers and children.

On Shabbat we have a community Kiddush and on occasion relevant speakers and programs are scheduled. The Sanctuary has been the scene of wonderful musical and literary performances.
